What effects are going unnoticed as a result of COVID-19 and how can we help?
The outbreak of COVID-19 has impacted people in huge and varying ways world wide. Almost one million Australian’s lost their job, whilst the majority of those still working faced a decrease in pay. With everything else going on in the world, plus the employment stress, it is understandable why people may be feeling afraid, worried, anxious and overwhelmed.
Lifeline are receiving more calls currently than ever before in their 57-year history, with a 25% increase compared to this time last year. They are receiving 90,000 calls to their crisis line each month since March, equating to one call every 30 seconds.
This is why Youfoodz is on a mission to make a diﬀerence. Youfoodz are supporting Lifeline and those Aussies that may be doing it tough due to COVID-19 throughout the Winter season.
Youfoodz is pledging to support Lifeline with $25,000 worth of in-kind meal donations to key Lifeline crisis support centres around the country, providing healthy and hearty Winter meals to support communities most in need. As well as engaging customer reach to raise much-needed funds for Lifeline, YouFoodz are matching every dollar donated by customers up to the value of $10,000!
As a result of COVID-19, Lifeline have –
- Had traditional revenue streams shut down leaving a $5 million dollar gap needed to keep centres open.
- 250 retail outlets closed.
- The famous book fairs cancelled, which raise millions each year.
- Fundraisers such as gala dinners, fun runs and bike rides cancelled.
