The best swimwear styles to flatter your shape

With the warmer weather moving in, Gemma Crowe, founder of Infamous Swim, helps us embrace our body!

There is a bangin’ bod in all of us – trust me. Our curves, lovely lady lumps the list is endless – we all have them and we should all LOVE them.

Swimwear is a fickle thing though, we all have to build up the confidence to show off our bodies and finding that perfect piece can be so stressful. We all want to feel confident in our swimwear. I built my business on helping women (and now men) feel confident to step out on the sand or lay by the pool like the goddess they are. My mission is all about empowerment through self love – what better way to a woman’s heart than a perfect bikini or one piece.

As women, we all come in a wonderful array of different shapes and sizes and every body shape is beautiful and unique in its own special way. From curvier frames to athletic body types, here is a guide to make sense of the endless swimwear options and narrowing them down to the choices that were made to fit and flatter your frame.

Curve game strong

Also known as the hour glass shape, for the lady who has a little curve in all the right places, its essential you dress them in the best bikini shape to enhance the best parts. Channelling your inner Marilyn Monroe, we recommend the gorgeous one piece with a low back and a bit of side boob (your partners will thank us later).

A beautiful flattering one piece outlines the perfect hourglass shape and also keeps your lady lumps held in. For a two piece, look for a high waist bikini bottom, just falling below your belly button. Match it with a  supportive bandeau top or scoop neck to show off a bit of cleavage. You always want to accentuate your waist line, always try to avoid any cosy shapes that hide or bulk up your waist.

The Athlete

Add a little shape to your athletic figure with swimwear that have ruffles or vibrant patterns. We recommend staying away from block colours and choosing bright and fun patterns, such a tropical patterns or even leopard print – so on trend! Patterns will draw attention to those areas creating the illusion of being more curvaceous. A one piece that has frills around the shoulders or bust will create a wider bust and shoulders.

My lovely lady lumps

For the woman who has a bigger bust, unfortunately string bikinis and bold bright colours will not be your best friend. Stick to darker block colours, such as black and whites and avoid patterns. Try looking for a well supported and good coverage one piece, this could be high neck one piece or a full piece with a built in bra. Even look for a piece (be it one piece or two) that has a zip up feature at the front.

The pear

For the lady who has a smaller bust and a curvaceous bottom half, it’s all about balancing out your top half. Halter style bikinis are perfect for this shape as its broadens your shoulders. Finding padded cups can also help give the illusion of a fuller top half. For your peach – go for a style that covers the area in full and avoid Brazilian style cuts. For the pear, we find that a halter neck one-piece looks super flattering and perfect for your shape!

About Infamous Mini Swim

Infamous Swim was created by a shopaholic, Gemma Crowe, who re launched this amazing brand in 2018 and introduced the Mini Swim range.

The instant success of Infamous Mini Swim is a testament to the potential of small brands to make it big in Australia’s current retail environment.

‘Infamous Swim’ has a different attitude to swimwear. The Mini Swim range is all about family, enjoyment and feeling comfortable in your own skin. That’s what people love!’, explains Gemma.

The idea of matching mother and daughter swimwear is innovative, value-adding and just quirky enough. Buyers are falling in love – with Mums across the country jumping on this new trend. Gemma’s tenacity and design skills are a force to be reckoned with. Combine this with her own experience as a mother of three and you get the perfect combination – someone who is able to connect with her audience and provide what they really want.

Infamous Swim taps into another digitally driven trend, body positivity, with the brand showcasing models in a range of sizes. This commitment is a taste of the ‘mum magic’ which Infamous Swim runs on. Like the best kind of mum, this brand is realistic and yet glamorous, down to earth and yet fun. Perhaps this is why Infamous Swim has taken off, making waves in the online shopping world.
