Our Stay

Our stay at Rydges Port Macquarie was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with warm, attentive service that made us feel instantly at home. The waterfront views from our room were breathtaking — waking up to the gentle glow of sunrise over the Hastings River was a highlight. The modern, well-appointed rooms were spotlessly clean and offered every comfort we needed. Dining at Zebu Bar & Grill was a delight, with fresh, locally sourced dishes that left us wanting more. We loved relaxing by the heated outdoor pool and soaking up the laid-back coastal vibe. The hotel’s prime location meant we were just steps from cafes, shops, and the scenic foreshore, making it the perfect base for a relaxing getaway. It’s no wonder so many guests rave about this destination — we couldn’t agree more.

Getting There

Getting to Port Macquarie from the Gold Coast is now a breeze, thanks to the upgraded Pacific Highway, which delivers a smooth, scenic drive with fewer stops and stunning coastal views along the way. The journey, which takes around 5.5 to 6 hours by car, feels more like a relaxing road trip than a long haul, with plenty of charming towns and rest spots to explore. For those who prefer to sit back and let someone else do the driving, luxury coach services offer a hassle-free alternative with comfortable seating and onboard amenities. If time is of the essence, a short flight from the Gold Coast to Port Macquarie Airport — with direct connections via Sydney — is a quick and convenient option. However you choose to travel, the journey sets the tone for the beauty and tranquility that awaits in Port Macquarie.

Things to see and do

As suggested by Ryan Crocker, the general manager at Rydges, we packed some goodies and enjoyed an absolutely amazing sunset at Lighthouse Beach during our stay. It was great to see so many people there enjoying the views and a glass or two.
The beaches here are amazing and are some of the most beautiful beaches on the planet, and with 17 to choose from in the immediate vicinity, you are bound to find one that’s perfect for you.

For breathtaking views, the Port Macquarie Coastal Walk from the town centre to Tacking Point Lighthouse is a wonderful trail that winds past a number of stunning beaches, including Town, Flynns and Shelly, and through Sea Acres National Park.
