Winter Skincare Wonderland!

Winter Skincare Tips with Skin Aesthetician and Founder of Omorfi Active Skin Care, Ang Domagala.

For more than a decade, clinical aesthetician Ang Domagala – and also the Owner of the esteemed skin rejuvenation clinic, Lekeyah and skincare brand, Omorfi (which means beautiful in Greek) – has been treating clients genuinely suffering from severe skin conditions and knows the importance of adapting your skincare regime to the changing seasons, so it can be Omorfi all year round!

As winter has just arrived, we asked Ang to share her top tips for bringing your skin to life during the colder months.

“Winter can be a tough season for dry skin. We are combating cold temperatures, dry air as well as indoor heating. This can greatly impact dull, lacklustre or even flakey skin. But with a few simple tweaks to your skincare routine and lifestyle, you can bring your skin to life this Winter,” says Ang.

HYDRATION IS YOUR FRIEND!

We know you’ve heard these words before…hydrate, hydrate, hydrate..which is 100% correct! Staying hydrated is crucial for healthy, radiant skin, and whilst it’s a little cliched, ensure you’re drinking plenty of water throughout the day!

Says Ang, “Consider adding products to your skincare routine that is loaded with ingredients that help lock in moisture like hyaluronic acid, glycerine and Retinol. Retinol will support the skin’s moisture retention capabilities by reinforcing the skin barrier and improving its ability to hold onto water. When a combination of all ingredients is used, the skin will look plump and hydrated throughout the day. I love our very own Omorfi Hydrating Hyaluronic 1% Serum, or the Omorfi Multi-Vitamin Skin Balm” for that ultimate boost of hydration.”

STIMULATE CELL TURNOVER!

Exfoliate regularly in the colder months – but no need for every day. Choose an exfoliate that has ingredients that will assist in treating the skin condition that is right for you, the best ingredients to exfoliate your skin include AHAs, BHAs, Enzymes, and gentle physical exfoliants.

Regular exfoliation will help remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, which can leave your skin looking brighter and more radiant.

But, according to Ang, “Be careful not to overdo it, as too much exfoliation can actually damage your skin barrier, so peg it back a little if you notice any irritation to your skin and slowly introduced active ingredients.”

SPF PROTECTION IS A MUST!

Yep, you still need SPF protection in Winter!

“I can’t stress how important it is to protect your skin from the elements, which means – keep wearing SPF in Winter. Winter weather can be harsh on our skin, so it’s important to take steps to protect it,” says Ang.

Products like the Omorfi Ultimate BB Cream which have the SPF protection you need whilst providing a light, dewy finish to blend in any imperfections, are perfect for the winter elements. If you’re heading out, wear a scarf or hat to cover your face, advises Ang.

KISS OFF!

Don’t forget your lips! Dry, chapped lips are a common winter complaint. Keeping your lips hydrated by applying a lip balm regularly will help.

“If you love lip plumper, choose one that is loaded with super-hydrating ingredients like the Omorfi Lip Plumper. They will keep lips supple and kissable, not dried out and sore from wind burn and heating,” says Ang.

GET YOUR BEAUTY SLEEP!

As an experienced skin aesthetician, Ang can’t stress enough the importance of a good night’s sleep and the effect it has on your skin.

She says, “Getting enough sleep is crucial for healthy skin. Aim to get 7-8 hours of sleep each night and consider using a silk pillowcase to help prevent wrinkles and protect your skin from any damage.”

A HEALTHY DIET

There’s nothing new here either, however, eating a healthy diet promotes a healthy inside which will help reveal a healthy outside.

Ang recommends focusing on a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats like avocado and nuts. These foods contain antioxidants and other nutrients that can help promote healthy, glowing skin.

TAKE CARE OF YOUR MENTAL HEATLH

Stress and anxiety can take a toll on our skin, so it’s important to take care of our stress levels. Take time to practice self-care activities, exercise, catch up with friends, join a yoga class; the key is to make these activities that bring you joy, a priority.

Says Ang, “Bringing your skin to life this winter is all about taking care of your body, inside and out.  Hydrate, protect, exfoliate, eat well, and prioritize self-care to keep your skin healthy, radiant, and glowing all winter long.”
