The ultimate spring dating guide

Our very own dating expert from Ideal Introductions, Linda Prescott, rounds up the ultimate Gold Coast dating guide for spring

Okay, we’re lucky that winter on the Goldie isn’t as cold as Hobart. But aren’t we just glad that winter is officially over? Yes, bring on the dresses, sunnies and bikinis! Now that we can go back to the sunny vibe we love, it’s time to get out there and do some fun stuff. For those in the dating scene, or looking to start a relationship, I’ve rounded up some wonderful springtime date ideas…

1. Enjoy drinks with a view

Why not kick-off that weekend with a chilled glass of wine while you both enjoy the crimson sunset? Slip on that chic dress, and while you’re at it, spritz some perfume on and you are ready to dazzle your date. There are so many cool places you can explore, but we like Nineteen at The Star’s uber-chic lounge bar. There, you’ll have a front-row seat to Pacific Ocean views from your poolside cabana, which you will never have to tear your eyes from thanks to VIP bottle service. Talk about being spoilt!

2. Get funny

Well not in a sleazy way but a comedy show that’s promised to entertain and lift up the mood. The Wildernis Cafe and Bar is the perfect place to start that light-hearted evening, as they offer Friday Night Comedy for those looking for laughs and giggles. You know what they say… laughter is the best medicine.

Dates:

Fri 11 Oct 2019, 7:30pm–9:30pm

3. Indulge on a wine tour

Escape the city for a day and jump on board The Vino Bus! It’s a wine tasting experience where you get to explore the fantastic boutique wineries Tamborine Mountain and The Scenic Rim has to offer. The Vino Bus operates all week and will pick you up from your front door or holiday accommodation. The tours include a delicious two course lunch and snacks and water on the bus. Sorted! The Vino Bus +61456998466 (they do pickups around the Gold Coast area).

4. Take your date on a picnic

Grab a blanket, picnic basket and enjoy an afternoon of food and a nice bottle of wine. Just sit back, enjoy the weather and each other’s company. Sometimes a simple day out in nature is all you need to get that romantic connection going. Talk about your favourite holiday destinations, good movies you’ve seen, a good book you’ve recently picked up, and your hopes and dreams. Wear your favourite dress with a perfect pedicure, which might be a good idea if you’re going for sandals. Looking for a picnic spot? Why not try quiet Tallebudgera Creek, the hidden little picnic spot in Currumbin Valley, or Burleigh Hill, which has views overlooking the Surfers Paradise skyline.

5. Unwind and indulge at a couple’s spa

Ahh, a couple’s spa. Finally, something to look forward to after a long week. Sometimes you just have to make time for that relaxing treat so you can both unwind and get rid of the tension in your shoulders. We love the Suite Retreat couples package at QT Gold Coast, which includes an invigorating foot scrub, a full body massage with healing jojoba oil and a Uspa Facial. For 150 minutes, you will be treated to the privacy of the spaQ couple’s suite.

6. Explore the great outdoors

If you think you and your love interest would enjoy nature and breaking a sweat, why not go on a walking trail? It’s a great opportunity for you to spend some time away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and indulge in some quiet time getting to know your date. Check out Killarney Glen, just off Beechmont Road, home to beautiful waterfalls and a heart-shaped pool. Perfect!
